Jason Hanson

After a standout career at Washington State University in which he earned Consensus All-American honors and a degree in pre-med studies, the Lions drafted Jason Hanson in the second round. During his rookie season in 1992 he earned NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and would go on to earn two Pro-Bowl selections on his way to becoming the NFL’s fourth all-time leading scorer with 2,150 points and third all-time kicker with 495 field goals made. Jason spent his entire 21-year NFL career with the Lions, which is the record for most seasons played with one team and is one of the most-loved players in Lions history. A devout Christian, Jason’s post-football life includes spending time with his family and giving private lessons to kickers. His main activity, however, is motivational speaking and supporting charity and faith-based events.
