The Bay Harbor Church has recently started a Missions Ministry whereby we provide support within our congregation as well as to the local community.
Our Resource Table will be set up in the lobby of the Great Lakes Center For the Arts when church services resume in May. Bibles are available for those who need them, as well as “Our Daily Bread” and other devotional booklets. There is no fee for materials on our Resource Table but donations are welcome.
The James W. Crofford, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Program awards 3 (three) $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors attending school in Emmet County.
Our scholarship is named in honor of our founder, Jim Crofford. Jim’s vision for a welcoming place where all people are encouraged and equipped to explore deeper faith in God and deeper relationships on the community led to the formation of Bay Harbor Church. Jim passed away in September 2021 and Bay Harbor Church is his enduring legacy.
Eligibility for these scholarships is based on faith, merit and financial need. Specific requirements for applying for this scholarship are as follows:
Corin Paulus
Luke Engall
Aidan Cleary
While joyfully serving Jesus Christ, we seek to assist, support, and encourage others in our community. We have chosen to partner with the Pregnancy Care Center of Petoskey and support their goal of helping each woman understand her pregnancy options, make an informed choice, and provide encouragement and support through education, counseling, and aid.
To acknowledge that every human life begins at conception and is worthy of protection. Pregnancy Care Center of Petoskey offers compassion, hope, and help to anyone considering an abortion by presenting them with realistic alternatives and Christ-centered support through education, medical care, and empowerment.
Pregnancy Care Center of Petoskey is a charitable, non-political, non-denominational, locally funded organization formed to help all persons who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. For over 20 years Pregnancy Care Center of Petoskey has been serving men and women with a specific dedication to those most vulnerable to an abortion due to an unplanned pregnancy.
This summer executive director Rachael Morford will speak to our congregation about the good work Pregnancy Care Center does in our community, and share how the Bay Harbor Church is helping them achieve their goals.

We are a Northern Michigan shelter serving those in homeless situations since 1988. Our goal is to provide a witness of God’s love to our neighbors in need. We exist to provide shelter and hope!
Core Beliefs of the Nehemiah Project:
Our goal is to provide a witness of God’s love to our neighbors in need. It is our desire to minister to the whole person, body, mind and spirit. Our efforts are rooted in love as we try to build meaningful relationships.
We believe in the words of Jesus, in Matthew 25:35-40: “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
Our ministry was named after an Old Testament man named Nehemiah, who was a model of caring, faithfulness and hope. Nehemiah means, “The Lord has Comforted”. Nehemiah was granted permission to go to Jerusalem and begin the task of rebuilding the broken down wall that protected the city. The Nehemiah ministry desires to assist people in rebuilding the areas of brokenness in their lives.
Government agencies and policy makers see the cause of homelessness as the lack of housing. In a Baylor University study Assessing The Faith-Based Response To Homelessness in America, faith-based providers see homeless as a symptom of a deeper problem. One provider stated; “People don’t become homeless when they run out of money, at least not right away. They become homeless when they run out of relationships.”
